And a massive thanks from this side of the pond...
Gary has always been there when we can't find our way and shone the light..
It is most appreciated!

Re: Mike preamps
There was an interesting article in Sound on Sound some time ago where they blind tested a number of high end mic pre's. Google it and take a look as the result makes very interesting reading. Spend your money on the stuff that 'really' makes the most difference.

Re: General Question - Latency through XITE on auto DSP all
Thanks guys.
The end to end latency isn't a concern for me as once ascertained is fine. This potential issues for me would be to have a circumstance where a project would load with dynamic DSP allocation that significantly altered the latency each time in a random manner.

General Question - Latency through XITE on auto DSP alloc
Hi all,
Before I waste any of my time is it possible to give some insight on the consistency of latency through Scope/XITE. I don't do any DSP allocation work in my projects and just let everything load as-is - never had any issues with this or needed to do anything as projects are relatively ...

I too can confirm that once Gary B pointed me in the direction of a new cable I no longer see any copy protection errors..

ASIO Buffer Size
Almost humiliated that I need to ask this but how do you reduce the ASIO buffer size for XITE?
Need to reduce the latency of a VST I want to run in Reaper.. looked everywhere but can't seem to find it!

Re: The #1 Rule of Home Recording
My thoughts on this..
If you really want to improve things at home where lets be honest usually most monitoring environments and monitors are less than ideal (I'm being kind here!) I suggest the following;
1. Get yourself a great pair of headphones! Don't skimp here. Try Shroomz Can Control to ...

Re: Xite 1 + A16u's and wordclock
Gary,
Yet again I owe you big time - and yes you've been there on the support desk for me too..
If ever you are planning to be in London let me know as there's a meal at a nice restaurant and a few beers waiting for you when you get here
Thanks as always,
Simon

Xite 1 + A16u's and wordclock
Hi all,
Seem to be having a few gremlins at the mo!
I've got my Xite hooked up to two A16u's via ADAT and Zlink.. Over the last couple of nights when turning everything on the U16's sync lights have stayed red indicating no wordclock sync. Ive tried flipping through the sync source on both and ...

Hi,
I've been facing similar issues and would have periods of time with no errors and then others with this happening repeatedly..
As per Gary B I have replaced my HDMI cable and haven't seen it since..

Scope 5.1 upgrade
Hi,
A couple of questions before I consider popping the above on the DAW;
1. Does 5.1 contain an updated WDM driver for the XITE?
2. Does the install retain all Scope settings i.e. just update? The reason I ask here is that we have all of our hardware interfaces defined as devices for ease of use ...

Re: Self Noise
Thanks all..
I did some further exploration late last night and let's say the gain structure accross the Lexicon's wasn't optimal leading to SNR issues.. I've tweaked this now and things are certainly much improved although as you say I'll have to live with some of the vintage 'charm'.

Re: Self Noise
Actually I've just rechecked this and the noise is predominately coming from the two Lexicons..
Some of the other inputs see slightly more noise when the kit is powered on (change of 3db on one of the Proteus units) however the aux return for the Reflex increases to -61db and the PCM to -73db ...

Re: Self Noise
That's the noise level with everything connected and the outboard turned on.
Just the Xite and 2 A16's running with everything turned off (but connected) gives me circa -80db at the individual inputs and -70db at the master..
I'm going to strip the whole thing again over the next few days and put ...

Self Noise
All,
Not strictly Scope related this but looking for some real world info as I'm driving myself a bit nuts...
My environment is a mix of the new (Scope XITE) and some of my faithful old buddies (PCM80, Reflex, Proteus 1/2, Akai S3000, D550, Drawmer '69) into two A16 Ultra's. I know times have ...

Re: XITE Error
Thanks all.
I'll try a shorter high quality HDMI cable first and then look at potentially replacing the PCI-x card if it's still occurring - do we know of a 'preferred' model/manufacturer for this?

Simon
