Yes it will do both of those. The STS is really convenient for sampling, in that there's a button that will make it record as soon as you start feeding it something other than silence, or the moment it receives a MIDI note on message.

For sampling VSTis into SF2 format which the STS5000 can read, I ...

I don't have this problem using ERA inside Minihost to trigger STS5000 (but then that makes for a very lightweight sequencer).

I think the most fun to program synth on the platform is Orbitone Three-O-Three, so you might want to consider that one too.

The STS-5000 really begins to take off when you discover how to use pitchshifting to avoid multisampling, change envelopes with timestretch, and alter harmonics without filtering with formant sweeps.

That's not even touching on what it can do to vocals...very convincing vocoding and "autotune ...

Once it falls behind (technologically) this far, it's time to head for the museum.
STS5000 is better at pitchshifting than Roland Variphrase and Kontakt, and offers far more voices than the former. It can sample, which Kontakt still can't do, and has 32 very useful filters (some of which are EQs ...

Maybe, but definitely not "better" in the STS's areas of specialty, IMO. STS 5000 is like Roland Variphrase technology, but improved and with heaps of voices, and offers a metric tonne of filters to mimick ...

Yeah, I sometimes get that too - defaulting to a rootkey of C -2 rather than C3. I wonder if there's a way to consistently get it to default to C3.

I know STS5000 attempts to read the filename (i.e. if you've got F3 as the last characters it'll put it on that note automatically), so it could be an ...

Thanks for the detailed description - I'll have to give that a try.

And cheers for the warning about the modulation of delay mode, but it isn't intended to be live modulation, more to be a "program on MIDI controller, then hit a key see what it sounds like" thing. It's nice to have all the controls ...

Hi,

I'd like to be able to control both "Del L" and "Del R" pots on the Delay S effect with the same MIDI CC, but SCOPE unmaps the first one when you map it to the second.

Is there any way around this?

Thanks...

Cheers guys.

I use ERA inside of Minihost for sequencing. ERA's not able to filter note velocity coming through it's MIDI in, but Minihost may well be able to - didn't think of that, will go look.

I do have flexor, but am at a bit of a loss how to use the value modules to change velocity - what ...

I'm hoping to find a device which will edit note-on velocities going through it and replace the velocity value with whatever CC value it currently has.

Does such a thing exist?

Yup, I'm having problems with it too. Removing my second graphics card and putting the pulsar in a PCI slot where it has an IRC of it's own seem to have helped, but I haven't really had time to test-to-destruction whether it's made a difference.

Please let me know your experiences, don't want to ...

I'm a big fan of easy to program synths like the EZSynth, Orbitone 303, Microbe, Wavelength Juicer and Neutron Micro. In fact, they're the only thing I can be bothered to program...more than about 8 knobs and it's just too much like hard work, too much choice of what to automate, and too much to map ...

Just thought I'd mention that energyXT now has PDC, so is totally compatible with XTC without resorting to the XTCDelay modules.

It effectively offers SFP routing in XTC mode.

For all the complaining about STS, I don't think many of you have scratched the surface of what the STS 5000 is capable of. I know I wasn't, but over the last week or so I've been completely and utterly blown away by the thing.

Total control over time and pitch(!!!)..."instant vocoding" in robot ...
