Couldn't find anything on the U.S. distributor's websites.
If anyone in the know on pricing for upgrade to get X-ite can PM me a price, would be appreciated.
At this point, I could upgrade using either a Scope Pro or Scope Project. Just trying to find out
what the deal turns out to be.
Thanks,

Re: Cheap Alternative To 8 Core Macs
Watch out for the memory restrictions on the new stuff. The design docs are all saying: 3 udimms -> 1333, 6 udimms -> 1066. Same on the 5520 chipset. So it looks like you will have to balance dimm counts based on CPU and total memory requirements.

I'm not seeing much of about audio improvements in Windows7. I'll assume all is as it was before, like:

Re: 1 Free Year of Windows 7 (or a bit less)
Yeah, it is hard to fault MicroSoft too much for Vista.
But... my question for Windows7... is the same as before. Are the 3rd party software writers going to get off the dime for this? If I can't get 64-bit Apps that run correctly on Windows7, then it's moot. Similarly, if 64-bit drivers aren't ...

Re: New i7 975 CPU
Just reviewing all the 64-bit app compatibility, and recalling my bad experiences while testing Vista and battling their default priority scheme... I have no path to 64-bit Vista at this point. I just don't think my application list carries over. Wouldn't hurt to run a system to test with though ...

Re: DSP comparison request
Yeah, things look pretty good at the IOH level. On the X58 they say they can support 32-lanes of PCIE 2.0. (I'll assume Xite is 1.0, but anyway). So 2.5Gbps for a PCIE lane, and we just say back of the envelope that a QPI path can handle at least 20 of those...

Re: DSP comparison request
Ah, ok.
Well, I guess the obvious point to make here is... again, it's not either/or. If they're doing it all now in software, there is no law that stops them from adding scope. The beauty of the DSP hardware is how lightly it loads on your system.
So I guess another factor in all this is workflow ...

Nice job on the Send/Return integration with the digital piece. So the ZED EQ and Inserts can be pre or post a DAW filtering process. Very cool.

Re: DSP comparison request
After looking at the original question of this (very interesting) thread, I think you may have meant to ask a different question. Rather than comparing DSP to CPU... I would ask what your friend's interest is. My own interest in Scope was in the Synthesis environment and the quality of the synth ...

Just some wild guesses...
1) bad system chassis switch? You might be able to make the reset switch act as the power switch as something to try.
2) bad video card? if you have a spare card, I would slam it in there to test...

Re: WaveRT Better Than ASIO (in theory)
Cakewalk (SONAR) is the other company that focused pretty heavily on the WaveRT stuff. Not that I'm a huge fan of the product historically speaking, but it might be a good match for people who are stuck on Vista.
