A little off-topic, I know, but since you mention it; for info, Yamaha did release XP drivers for the SW1000XG card. I have one on a second machine and it still runs fine on XP here.

well, Paul isn't very smart in his conclusion

Re: Info about the release of SCOPE XITE-1 and SCOPE 5

Actually, I remember Creamware stating on their website years ago that Linux support was originally planned for Scope back then, even though it never actually materialised.

More recently, I came across this page: http://createdigitalmusic.com/2008/03/09/sonic-core-unveils-insanely-powerful-new ...

Re: Info about the release of SCOPE XITE-1 and SCOPE 5

Hasn't the Scope software had this function for a long time anyway? In "Classic" View dragged devices become transparent even in XP!
I was curious and switched to classic view just to see what you mean, and it does fine here on Win2000. No need to switch to XP, it seems :D

Even better! Now, if ...

This thread is about Cubase 4.1 since so many of us use Cubase. You don't like the Cubase upgrade policy? This one is free. How do you like the Scope upgrade policy? As in:

NO UPGRADES!!!!

You seem to be confusing the (now generally accepted) difference between software upGRADES and upDATES ...

Thanks, but personally, I've given up on Cubase upgrades. From my point of view, V4 isn't worth the upgrade cost, especially since (from 4.0) they dropped support for the Direct X plug-ins I still want to use.

Moreover, and very importantly, Steinberg's contempt for their customers beggars belief ...

You misunderstood. The adapter plug I am referring to is for changing RCA end of the SP/DIF cable to an XLR plug, not an adapter for the entire octopus cable assembly. I did this on my Plus card to change the AES/EBU output to SP/DIF and it works absolutely flawlessly.

Even if you had not ...

It may be possible to simply use an adapter plug and switch the digital I/O type in software. This is how Lynx soundcards and Kurzweil products function.

No, it's not possible to simply use an "adapter plug" (whatever you may mean by that - you can't simply plug in the octopus from the "plus ...

I upgraded my classic plate to a plus plate about 6 months ago (ordered by email/phone from Ralph at (then) Creamware, now Sonic Core). At just under 290 euros (including tax) it's expensive, but if, as in my case, you really need the balanced i/o's at +4dB and the AES/EBU i/o's then it's definitely ...

COS (KOS) is a nice island...

Indeed it is. I love the G(r)eek Islands. How about introducing the NAXOS, PANDROS and SANTORINI models as well?

Then again, we could move west to the Spanish resorts and have the MAJORCA, the MINORCA (a cheaper, cut down version) and, wait for it... the IBIZA UDM ...
