Well, right now, I'm using Tracktion as my multi-tracker/sequencer with SFP, and that's basically all I'm using it for.

I was a CubaseSX user, but once I switched to the SFP hardware, the need for all those software fx and synths just melted away, and the Cubase interface started to become more of ...

here's the deal:

a few months ago, i found myself with an extra $17K in my hands. I'd been wanting to upgrade my system for some time.

I could have gone nuts and paid a fortune for a top-of-the-line protools system or something.

funny thing is, the SCOPE/Fusion platform seemed to offer more at a ...

Thanks, bassdude...

I DO dig Dream Theatre, but these days, i listen to bands like Symphony-X, Vanden Plas, and ARK. Those three are my "holy trinity" of prog-metal right now.

Funny story: Back in the mid-to-late 80's, I was doing the writing, vocals, and guitars in a band called "Drastic Measures ...

as an added idea, I can picture doing something like grouping my various elements (for instance drums) and routing the stereo result of a group to a stereo SFP channel for overall compression/reverb/whatever and mixing.

this way, the individual channel levels and EQ (snare, kick, etc.) could be set ...

I've been having good luck with a Shure KSM-32 for vocals AND instruments.

i've had experience with the rode line of mics, including the NT1, but i find that the shure condenser has a warmer, less brittle sound.

just my opinion...

yeah, ricardo, i know what you mean

for my last project, i was using CubaseSX (I only got into the pulsar recently), and i discovered that the problem with all those cool effects is that i tended to use them.

i ended up having to re-start my mixes from scratch, using minimal sweetening, and ...

Thanks, all! It's good to be here, and I'm getting more and more into the Pulsar all the time. It only seems to get better, the more I learn.

It's interesting that I haven't had to dig into the manual that much. The devices and signal routing is fairly easy to understand, and the integration with ...

thank god that i read this thread before trying the demo, otherwise, i would have had hearing damage.

As it is, I had trouble getting a good sense of what some of the patches could do because the "ping" is so loud. I couldn't get many of them to a listenable level without pain.

I understand the ...

I spent last weekend with my new PulsarII, and found that it DOES seem to have quite enough power for mixing and effects.

However, I soon started getting addicted to the no-latency synths, and now I want to integrate these into my next CD, so off I go tomorrow to upgrade to the PowerPulsar ...
