well my point wasn't the price being 49 euros really, rather than giving folks an alternative, which would probably gain both parties (consumer/manufacturer). i have no economic interests myself, as i ofcourse have 4.5 myself, and have supported both 3rd parties and SC/CW economically since i ...

yes indeed, but imho someone who demands solid driver support and jumps Vista is a moron by his own words

Why is that?

if you prefer native, no problem - sell the cards, get an RME or ESI instead and have fun.
If you want the SFP environment under a sh*tty OS - pay for it if the company says ...

That was a Scope OS, just without extra plugins - not the same thing at all. You can't change the fact that it was a Scope OS, which didn't need re-writing because it was still intended for WinXP.

What you're asking for is a free re-written Scope OS for a new version of Windows. Quite a different ...

Cyberzip, you really are talking rubbish. Spouting off about a company without getting your facts straight seems a bit odd to me... Infact, this whole Vista support for nothing argument is utter stupidity in my opinion.

I'm sorry, I did not intend to talk rubbish. :) And I'm not asking for Vista ...

There is no way of using XP drivers in Vista as far as I know. Good luck with your new card...

edit - maybe I'm missing something here (didn't fancy reading thru 5 pages of whining) but what good is a Vista driver without a Scope OS to go with it? How do you plan to make your audio and MIDI ...

UPDATE

My discussion with Ralf / SC came to an end and he didn't move an inch. My final comment to him was that I basically offered to give SC some of my money, but to no avail.

Sonic Core are apparently counting on that enough people will buy the 198€ package for Vista support.

Before I start ...

I'm a SCOPE 4.0 user and I just need a basic Vista driver/mixer and nothing more. I've been emailing with Ralf Bach / SC and I will duplicate my latest standpoint here, because I think and hope a lot of you here agree:

"There _are_ a lot of users that would probably agree to pay a smaller sum for ...

ok, i won't argue about what cakewalk can actually do. they really can use massive amouts of memory? maybe, but why?

Have you used recent software synths and / or orchestral sample libraries?

they are the same guys who tried to convince you that wdm and dx was far superior to asio and vst ...

I don't remember the exact settings available with my PowerSampler 1, but I think there are settings as low as 3-4 ms available.

5.8 ms worked ok on my system till I began opening my bigger vocal projects. Then I got strange plugin errors saying "plugin not installed" about my installed DirectX ...

Hi JBraner!

Thanks for your long reply! I haven't done that much testing yet, but 5.8ms gives a constant 3-4% CPU utilization on my P3 1Ghz, which is acceptable for me. I haven't even bothered to try soft synths & samplers that much yet, but now it seems a lot more feasible.

I have an ULLI ...

I tried to go down to 5.8ms and to my big surprise it worked! (This is with WinXP.)

So you can get 11ms with the 3.1c drivers? That ain't too bad either... maybe I'll go back to those to avoid the stuttering & crackling in media players.

It feels pretty weird that Sonar is getting ASIO support ...

You got down to 2ms with a CreamWare card?! I'm impressed! I don't seem to get below 90 ms or so (with a PowerSampler 1). At the moment that I click to view the mixer or something else, playback stops.

I think I have to tweak some more, but please tell me what settings you're getting 2ms with ...
