Well, in my case I reinstalled the whole system again and HT was disabled from the beginning...

So, either it has to do with the PCI slot and IRQ, or HT. Because the IRQ still looks like it is shared. (IRQ 22, I couldn't get it to IRQ 8/9/10/11/12), damn... I don't think I am gonna mess with HT ...

Well, I got a very similar setup with very similar problems..

I only have two cards, one 9800 pro on AGP slot, and I have my pulsar (the 4DSP first gen one) on PCI slot 1/2 and had problem with both slots...

I placed it to the PCI slot 4, then everything worked fine ever after.

So maybe you had ...

Huh... SCSI sounds better? Huh... I think that guy need to go out and buy Computer Basics For Dummies...

now MAC sounds better? MAC looks better IMHO, but if there's any reason for the MAC to sound better with the pulsar. It has to do with the driver... Which IMHO, is possible (from a Computer ...

Good choice man... That board probably got the best performance and got the Intel Gigabit LAN with CSA...

Rock solid, too. Good luck and enjoy...

BTW, try to avoid using the 2 SATA and the PATA that's not control by the ICH5R. Give you more PCI bandwidth for your Pulsar...

yep, you can however overclock the PCI bus with some other boards...

but your PCI bus is left alone by default in most cases, with those recent mobos anyways.

I had my P4 1.6Ghz running at 2.32 Ghz (that's 145FSB VS 100FSB stock) and it worked fine... I push those things hard, burn them in, and ...

Well, if never do anything network related with your DAW, you probably won't even care if the board got Gigabit ethernet or not...

And by that, I ain't saying ICQ and Stuff, but let's say, load samples from a file server and or access audio files. It's probably gonna help. Sure, I know you probably ...

The Intel boards are rock solid...

The ABIT board is a great overclocking board, hey you gain some you lose some. Some people were running well above 1000FSB (that's 250Mhz VS 200MHz stock) with that board.

Well, the MSI offers top notch performance matter of fact, the problem with that board is how it did it. The boards that perform well are the ones with corecell technology, which can be a good and bad thing. It dynamically overclocks your CPU within a safe level of course. But then that might not be ...

I am a Kontakt user, I love it. There are a bunch of other products out there of course. But I think Kontakt is easy to use, powerful, and sounds good. I rather use more process power of my CPU and let the DSP do some other stuff...

I think to a ...

I don't think you will "notice" any performance decrease even with the system restore turn on.

I will sugguest alter the size on the HD reserved for the restore data. And always ghost... System restore is not a subsitute to a full backup.

But system restore will not likely to do anything crazy ...

Usually I do 2 ghost CD for my installation.

One with the basic XP install, and one with all the software install and optimization done.

By optimization I mean things like, tweaking for the best performance, those can mean disable all visual effects on windows XP, disable services that you don't ...

BTW, the est. life time of a Pentinum (that's the original one we are talking about) is 75 years based on Intel research.

I think it depends on how you treat your hardware. I am suprised that the "software" still works today!!!

I think what you really should be worried about is the software ...

I have the Seagate Bar. IV and it works greats... very quiet...

the new Maxtor whould be very quiet with their FLB, and fast.

Don't worry about the ATA133/100 spec, you can't really push that limit with only one drive. If you got two on the same IDE channel, then yet, maybe it's worth considering...

Well, I would go with the 1.6Ghz, and 1 Gb of RAM...

Get more ram only if you are running win XP/2000. Or else you can't really take advantage of it.

I would go with the 1.6G is because I have one, and it's running rocket stable at 2.133Ghz

Mobo temp top out at 32C and CPU temp 40C...

no crashes ...

Try the G450, I have the G400MAX with dual 19s and it works fine.

What you might also consider is the ATI 7500/8500...

go with the 8500 if you are a heavy gamer, or else 7500 should be fine.

OK, last question before buying said board.

My understanding: DDR is not as fast as RDRAM but it's fast enough for a 2GHz CPU.
If I want to upgrade to 3GHz (?) in a couple of years will DDR266 still be fast enough?
